House Beesbury

Beware Our Sting

House Beesbury of Honeyholt is an ancient house of the First Men, seated along the banks of the Honeywine where it winds toward Oldtown. The Beesburys trace their line to Ellyn Ever Sweet, a daughter of the legendary Garth Greenhand. According to the tale, Ellyn loved honey above all earthly things and journeyed to the vast mountain hive of the King of the Bees, there striking a pact to keep his children and their children's children for all time. From that union of woman and bee-craft, the story holds, came both the house and its seat, and the Beesburys have been keepers of hives along the Honeywine ever since.

Sworn to the Hightowers of Oldtown, the Beesburys are a lesser house of modest lands but enduring loyalty. Their most celebrated son in recent memory was Lord Lyman Beesbury, who served as master of coin on the small council through the long reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen and well into that of Viserys I. An old man of eighty by the time of the Dance of the Dragons, Lord Lyman alone among the green council argued for the rights of Princess Rhaenyra; for that plain-spoken loyalty he was arrested on the orders of Ser Otto Hightower and died in the black cells. The house weathered the Dance and the turns of fortune that followed, and by the time of A Game of Thrones Lord Warryn Beesbury holds Honeyholt quietly beneath the yellow-and-black banners of his line.
