Lyman Beesbury was Lord of Honeyholt and served almost uninterrupted as master of coin and lord treasurer from the reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen through that of his grandson, King Viserys I Targaryen. A man of eighty when Viserys died, he sat the small council that gathered in Queen Alicent Hightower's chambers and was the only member to uphold the claim of Princess Rhaenyra over that of Prince Aegon. For this he was the first man to die in the Dance of the Dragons in 129 AC; Fire & Blood records three accounts of his end—Grand Maester Orwyle says Ser Otto Hightower had him cast into the black cells where he died of a chill, while Septon Eustace and the fool Mushroom variously claim Ser Criston Cole slit his throat or flung him onto the spikes of Maegor's Holdfast. His death was kept secret, and his grandson and heir Ser Alan Beesbury loudly demanded his release, unaware he was already dead.
