Norbert Vance

Norbert Vance is the blind, aging Lord of Atranta and head of House Vance of Atranta. In his youth he squired for Lord Darry alongside Brynden Tully. He has five sons by his unnamed wife: Ser Ronald (his eldest and heir), Ser Hugo, Ser Ellery, Ser Kirth, and Maester Jon. House Vance supported Robb Stark during the War of the Five Kings, and Norbert's sons were companions of Lord Edmure Tully at Riverrun; though Catelyn Stark saw one Vance hamstrung by Black Walder Frey at the Red Wedding, all of Norbert's sons apparently survived the war. After Robb's death the river lords bent the knee to the Iron Throne, and King Tommen I Baratheon signed Lord Vance's pardon. Reluctantly joining the siege of Riverrun, Norbert sat on the rivermen's war council and offered to parley with the castellan, Ser Brynden Tully, on the strength of their old friendship as squires, but his suggestion was dismissed by Clement Piper, Lord of Pinkmaiden.
