Ser Lucas Lothston, grandson of a hedge knight, was raised from obscurity to the seat of Harrenhal. In 136 AC Lord Torrhen Manderly, then Hand of the King, named him master-at-arms of the Red Keep in place of Ser Gareth Long. In 149 AC Falena Stokeworth became the first mistress of Prince Aegon Targaryen, and when a knight of the Kingsguard found the pair abed in 151 AC, Prince Viserys arranged Falena's marriage to Lucas and prevailed upon King Aegon III to grant him Harrenhal, vacant since the extinction of House Strong. In 178 AC, when Falena brought their daughter Jeyne to court and the king, by then Aegon IV, took the girl as his eighth mistress, Lucas was named Hand of the King. He held the office less than a year: after Jeyne contracted the pox from the king, the Lothstons were sent from court. For pandering his wife and daughter to the throne he earned the name the Pander.
