House Roxton

House Roxton of the Ring is a noble line of the Reach, possibly of landed-knight rank, sworn to the Tyrells of Highgarden. They trace their ancestry to Andal adventurers given lands and wives by the Three Sage Kings of House Gardener during the coming of the Andals, and they have held the Ring ever since. They blazon their arms with a saltire of interlocked golden rings upon a sky-blue field, and no words of theirs are recorded in any chronicle the maesters have preserved.

For all their quiet station, the Roxtons keep an ancient Valyrian steel sword called Orphan-Maker, a blade of grim repute. Ser Lorence Roxton wore the white cloak in the Kingsguard of Jaehaerys the Conciliator, and was counted the lone victor of lordly blood at the War for the White Cloaks. A century later, Bold Jon Roxton rode with the Caltrops during the Dance of the Dragons, slew Hugh Hammer with Orphan-Maker on the field, and fell himself at the Second Battle of Tumbleton. No Roxton has yet ridden into the events of A Song of Ice and Fire; the house keeps its rings in the Reach, and its sword waits.
