Thirdborn son of Qhorwyn the Cunning who came to the Seastone Chair after the deaths of his two elder brothers, and the first of his house to reign as King of the Isles and the Rivers. In his youth he raided the Stepstones and visited Free Cities such as Volantis, Tyrosh, Braavos, and Lys, was held captive two years in the Basilisk Isles, and served as a sellsword among the Second Sons in the Disputed Lands, learning to lead on land as well as at sea. Turning his father's strengthened fleets against the riverlands, weakly held by the Storm King Arrec Durrandon, he landed a hundred longships south of Seagard and carried them overland to the Blue Fork, shattered Samwell Rivers' host at the Tumblestone, and defeated Lady Agnes Blackwood — whom he offered as salt wife and then slew when she refused. At the battle of Fairmarket, aided by river lords such as Lothar Bracken, he crushed the stormlanders and seized the riverlands for himself, then spent the rest of his reign suppressing the rebellions his rule provoked. He died in bed beside a salt wife at the age of sixty-four. His career is recorded in The World of Ice & Fire and the appendix to A Game of Thrones.
