Lord Alyn Stokeworth was named Hand of the King by King Aegon I Targaryen in 34 AC, following the death of Ser Osmund Strong. When Aegon ordered the Aegonfort torn down and a stone castle raised in its place in 35 AC, he set Alyn and Queen Visenya Targaryen to oversee the work while the court removed to Dragonstone; Alyn brought his daughter Samantha to court, where she became a companion of Princess Rhaena Targaryen. He continued as Hand under King Aenys I after Aegon's death in 37 AC. When Aenys's reign was met by risings across the realm, Alyn was sent into the riverlands with a few hundred men to hunt the outlaw Harren the Red, who claimed descent from Harren the Black. Alyn cornered the bandit in a village west of the Gods Eye, but in the final fight Harren slew him; his squire Bernarr Brune cut Harren down in turn and was knighted for it. He is mentioned in The World of Ice & Fire, Fire & Blood, The Rise of the Dragon, and The Sons of the Dragon.
