Lady Forlorn is the ancestral Valyrian-steel longsword of House Corbray of Heart's Home in the Vale of Arryn. The Corbrays have spoken of the blade as though she were a living woman for so long that the conceit has become a family habit, and the lord who carries her is reckoned among the most dangerous knights of the Vale.
In the years of the War of the Five Kings the sword is borne by Ser Lyn Corbray, a deadly and ill-tempered swordsman who keeps Lady Forlorn loose in her scabbard and seems forever eager to draw her. His elder brother Lord Lyonel holds Heart's Home, but it is Lyn who carries the family's blade, a circumstance that unsettles many in the Vale.
