House Dustin of Barrowton sits on the Great Barrow at the head of the Barrowlands, the largest of the green burial mounds said to hold the First King of the First Men. Old kings sleep beneath the Dustins' floor, and the Dustins themselves were kings once, the Barrow Kings, who ruled the central plains of the North before they were brought into the Stark realm.
Lady Barbrey Dustin holds Barrowton at the time of A Game of Thrones, her husband Lord Willam having died at the Tower of Joy in Robert's Rebellion. She buried him in his armor and his horse beside him, and is said to keep no warm feeling for the Starks of Winterfell, who sent her young husband south.
