House Ball is an ancient house of the Reach, tracing its descent from Florys the Fox, said to be a daughter of Garth Greenhand and one of the First Men houses old enough to remember the Age of Heroes. They blazon their arms with three white plates upon an inverted red chevron, and though the Gardener kings once claimed their fealty, the Balls have followed House Tyrell since Highgarden passed to that family at the Field of Fire.
Lady Rosamund Ball died at Maidenpool defending Queen Alysanne Targaryen from an assassin's blade during the reign of Jaehaerys I. Two centuries later, Ser Quentyn Ball, known as Fireball, served as master-at-arms of the Red Keep under King Aegon IV; passed over for the Kingsguard he had been promised, he sided with Daemon Blackfyre in the First Blackfyre Rebellion, slaying Lord Lefford and defeating Lord Damon Lannister in single combat before he was slain on the eve of the Battle of the Redgrass Field.
No Ball has yet appeared in the events of the War of the Five Kings, and the house's current head and seat go unrecorded.
