Tyrion Tanner is the bastard son of Lollys Stokeworth and an unknown father—one of the half a hundred men who raped her during the riot of King's Landing—and so styled "of the hundred fathers." Born a strong, healthy boy in 300 AC, he was named after Tyrion Lannister at the insistence of Ser Bronn, his mother's husband, after Cersei Lannister forbade Lady Tanda's wish to call him Tywin; many read the choice as a deliberate insult to House Lannister. Although readers expected the Crownlands bastard surname Waters, the appendix of A Dance with Dragons revealed his name as Tanner, likely an allusion to the tanner's shop where Lollys was raped. As Lollys's only child and her heir, he stands to inherit Stokeworth. He is mentioned in A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, and the appendix of A Dance with Dragons.
