Mariya Darry

A daughter of the Lord of Darry and elder sister of Ser Raymun and Lady Jeyne, Mariya was wed to Merrett Frey, ninth son of Lord Walder Frey of the Twins, in a match Walder arranged while the Darrys still stood high in the favor of King Aerys II Targaryen. The bargain soured almost at once: Robert's Rebellion broke out in 282 AC, and the Darrys' staunch loyalty to the Mad King cost them half their lands and most of their wealth. A handsome woman gone grey at the temples, Mariya found her husband a disappointment and bore him daughters—Amerei, Walda, and Marissa—along with a stillbirth and a girl who died in infancy, before at last producing a son, Walder, called Little Walder. She was widowed when Merrett was hanged by the brotherhood without banners for his part in the Red Wedding, and afterward resided at Castle Darry among the Freys who came with her daughter Amerei's marriage to Lancel Lannister.
