Lord Commander Hoare

A son of King Halleck Hoare and brother to Harren the Black, whose given name has not come down to us; he served as Lord Commander of the Night's Watch during Aegon's Conquest. Though he commanded ten thousand swords at the Wall, he held to his vows and did not march south when his brother and nephews were burned by dragonfire at Harrenhal, and so he kept the Watch apart even as his house was extinguished. He is recorded in A Game of Thrones.
