Ser Helman Tallhart was a knight, Master of Torrhen's Square, and head of House Tallhart, a masterly house sworn to the Starks of Winterfell. With his son Benfred he often visited Eddard Stark at Winterfell. In A Game of Thrones, Eddard charged Helman and Galbart Glover to each raise a hundred bowmen and fortify Moat Cailin; when Robb Stark called the banners after Eddard's arrest, Tallhart men marched while Helman's brother Leobald held Torrhen's Square as castellan. He was the first bannerman to greet Catelyn Stark at Robb's war council, and after the alliance with House Frey he was given command of the four-hundred-man garrison left at the Twins to ensure Walder Frey's loyalty. Edmure Tully later ordered him to leave the Twins and join Roose Bolton in retaking Harrenhal; Helman took Castle Darry, then on Robb's command (relayed by Bolton from Harrenhal) executed its surrendered Lannister captives and put the castle to the torch before marching with Robett Glover. He and much of the northern infantry were slain at Duskendale by Randyll Tarly's host in 299 AC.
