House Stackspear is a westerlands house sworn to Casterly Rock, once trusted enough that Lord Willam Stackspear was chosen by lot at a Great Council to sit as one of King Aegon III's regents, a fondness for hawking his most notable trait in an otherwise undistinguished tenure. Lord Tytos Lannister's brother Jason later got Alys Stackspear, a Stackspear lord's daughter, with child, and was compelled to marry her; she died birthing their son Damon, while her father used the scandal's cover to double his smallfolk's taxes and hire Volantene sellswords to collect them.
Lord Stackspear backed Tywin Lannister in crushing the Reyne-Tarbeck rebellion, and generations later House Stackspear's banner still rides with the Lannisters: Ser Alyn Stackspear serves in Tywin's host at Harrenhal during the War of the Five Kings, and the Stackspears send a banner to escort Tywin's corpse home to Casterly Rock after his death.
