The Night's King

Betrayal · 7700 BC* · The Nightfort

The thirteenth Lord Commander of the Night's Watch was a warrior without fear, and his fall is the darkest tale the North remembers. From atop the Wall he spied a woman with skin as white as the moon and eyes like blue stars, and loved her though her skin was cold as ice; and when he gave his seed to her he gave his soul as well. He brought her back to the Nightfort and proclaimed her his queen and himself the Night's King, and for thirteen years they ruled the Watch as sorcerer-tyrants, binding the brothers with dark enchantments and, the grimmest tales say, making sacrifice to the Others. It took the Stark King of Winter and Joramun, the King-Beyond-the-Wall, in rare alliance to bring him down. When it was found he had been sacrificing to the cold gods, every record of his name was destroyed, and it is forbidden to speak it; only the Night's King he remains.
