A woman of Starfall in the service of House Dayne, named by Lord Eddard Stark as the mother of his natural son Jon Snow. Eddard offered her name once, in private, to his closest friend, and never spoke it openly again; how she came to Winterfell with the babe, or whether she came at all, the maesters do not record. Within the household at Starfall she was known as a wet nurse of long service to the family, and Ser Edric Dayne (Ned's nephew by marriage) believed, on his uncle's authority, that she had been his uncle's lover and the boy was his.
