The boy-king of the Vale at the time of Aegon's Conquest, who looked up from the courtyards of the Eyrie one summer's day to see Queen Visenya Targaryen circling on Vhagar above his mother's solar. His mother Sharra, the regent, had thought to defy the dragons and had garrisoned the Bloody Gate; Visenya flew over the wall and asked the boy whether he would like a ride upon her dragon, and when Ronnel said yes, his mother's defence ended without a sword being drawn. He was confirmed as Lord of the Eyrie under the Iron Throne, and by Queen Rhaenys's brokering wed in his youth to a daughter of Torrhen Stark to bind the new realm together. In 41 AC he was thrown from a window of the Eyrie by his elder brother Jonos in the Vulture King's rebellion against King Aenys I, and the lordship of the Vale passed by his death into the line that would inherit it down to Jon Arryn.
