Joramun was a King-Beyond-the-Wall of the Age of Heroes, remembered in legend as the wildling who blew the Horn of Winter and woke giants from the earth. The free folk hold that this same horn, which they call Joramun's Horn, has the power to bring down the Wall should it ever sound again, and Mance Rayder spent years searching the Frostfangs in hope of finding it in Joramun's grave beneath a glacier. For all that the men of the haunted forest were the eternal foes of the realms south of the ice, the songs tell that Joramun made common cause with the Watch and with Brandon the Breaker, the King of Winter at Winterfell, against a far blacker enemy. Together the King-Beyond-the-Wall and the King of Winter cast down the Night's King, the thirteenth Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, who had taken a corpse-pale woman to wife and bound the Watch in sacrifice to the Others. When his foul devotions were laid bare, every record of the Night's King was destroyed and his very name forbidden, yet Joramun lived on in story as one of the two kings who broke him.
