Garth the Gardener

Garth the Gardener was the legendary first King of the Reach and the founder of House Gardener, reckoned the eldest son of the mythical Garth Greenhand, High King of the First Men. By the tales preserved in The World of Ice & Fire, Garth made his home upon the hill above the river Mander that in time became Highgarden, where he wore a crown of vines and flowers. From his loins, the chroniclers write, sprang House Gardener, whose kings would rule the Reach for many thousands of years. The Oakenseat upon which his descendants sat was said to have grown from an oak that his father Garth Greenhand had planted.
