Ser Danwell Frey is a knight of House Frey, the eighth son of Lord Walder Frey and the third born of Walder's third marriage, to Amarei Crakehall. He is wed to Wynafrei Whent, a union marked by a long succession of stillbirths and miscarriages. To his father's lasting embarrassment, Danwell was unhorsed by a hedge knight at the tourney held for Prince Joffrey's name day in King's Landing in 298 AC, prompting Lord Walder to wonder aloud whether such a son was truly his own. Taken captive after the battle on the Green Fork, he was held at Harrenhal until ransomed, and he was present at the Red Wedding. He yet lives as of A Feast for Crows, when he travels to Darry.
