Daemon Sand (The Bastard of Godsgrace)

Ser Daemon Sand, known as the Bastard of Godsgrace, is the bastard son of Ser Ryon Allyrion, heir of House Allyrion, and is reckoned one of Dorne's finest swords. Born in 275 or 276 AC, he is handsome and gallant, with a strong jaw, sky-blue eyes, and light sandy brown hair. He squired for Prince Oberyn Martell and received his knighthood from the Red Viper, who is rumored to have also been his lover. Not much older than Princess Arianne Martell, he took her maidenhead when both were fourteen and later sought her hand, but Prince Doran refused him for his bastard birth. In A Storm of Swords he attends Oberyn at the trial by combat against Ser Gregor Clegane and helps him don his armor; in A Feast for Crows he is imprisoned for demanding the Sand Snakes be freed. By The Winds of Winter Doran has named him sworn shield to Arianne; he bests her at cyvasse aboard the Peregrine on the crossing to Cape Wrath and again later in a cave near Mistwood.
