Fifth son of Daemon I Blackfyre and Rohanne of Tyrosh, and a pretender to the Iron Throne. When King Maekar I died in 233 AC and left no clear heir, the Hand, Lord Brynden "Bloodraven" Rivers, summoned a Great Council, and Aenys pressed his claim by letter from exile. Bloodraven offered him safe conduct to King's Landing to argue it in person; Aenys accepted, but the moment he passed the gates the gold cloaks seized him and dragged him to the Red Keep, where he was put to death, his head shown to the lords of the council as a warning to any who still harbored Blackfyre sympathies. Once Aegon V was crowned, he had Bloodraven arrested for the murder, for breaking the word of the Iron Throne; the spymaster was condemned to death and then sent instead to live out his days on the Wall.
